American Airlines Is Giving Chicagoans a Unique Opportunity to Win Prizes and AAdvantage Miles

Holiday gifts are arriving early this year in the Windy City, as American Airlines launches three special programs giving Chicagoans an airfare discount and chances to travel the world. American is launching a 30-day online promotion, "AA & Chicago - To the World," as well as a six-day "Sky Sweeps Watch and Win" street promotion.

Both promotions are designed to give travelers the chance to win tickets for two anywhere in the world American Airlines flies. American, along with American Eagle, offers more than 500 daily departures to more than 120 destinations from Chicago.

The online promotion also will award 30 lucky Chicagoans with 20,000 AAdvantage(R) miles.

And to make sure no one is left off the pre-holiday gift list, today through Nov. 19, 2006, American is giving Chicagoans with cell phones the opportunity to claim a one-time 10 percent discount on AA.com off their next American or American Eagle flight from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to anywhere in the world -- good for up to six passengers traveling on the same itinerary.

"Chicago is one of American's major international gateways with daily nonstop service to such popular European leisure destinations as London and Paris, as well as key Asian business destinations including Tokyo, Delhi, India, and Shanghai, China," said Thomas Aichele, American's Managing Director -- Passenger Sales in Chicago. "The 'AA & Chicago - To the World' and 'Sky Sweeps Watch and Win' promotions, along with the one-time 10 percent discount, are designed to remind Chicagoans of our worldwide flight schedule while also providing a fun way to obtain a great special discount and special prizes for some lucky travelers."

AA & Chicago - to the World Promotion

The 30-day "Chicago to the World" online promotion requires participants to log on to AA.com/totheworld to register and participate. Each day travelers who log on will find themselves on board a virtual American Airlines flight en route to a worldwide mystery destination. Travelers must guess the mystery destination with the help of four video and audio clues activated by moving the cursor on the promotional Web page. Inflight virtual clues include:

* An Audio Clue - recordings of actual international flight attendants

calling out clues in English with a salutation in a language or dialect

likely heard in the mystery city

* A Window Clue - the virtual flight's window shade will rise to reveal

the mystery city skyline or an important landmark

* A Newspaper Clue - the virtual traveler's newspaper will include a

headline featuring mystery city trivia

* A Video Monitor Clue - the Web page will include a video flight path

calling attention to cities near the mystery city

Travelers participating in the online game each day will be able to submit their mystery city guess from a list of 15 cities. All registered participants, whether their answer is correct or incorrect, will automatically be entered into a random drawing to win one of five grand prizes. Grand prizes include travel for two anywhere in the world American flies. In addition, they'll have the chance online to instantly win the daily prize of 20,000 AAdvantage miles. The clues and mystery destination will change every day.

Grand Prize winners will be chosen on or around Nov. 30, 2006, and will be notified by phone or certified mail following the drawing. Daily AAdvantage Program miles winners will be notified with an instant message via the Web site, with a confirmation e-mail and prize claim package via overnight mail within 10 business days. A listing of the grand prize winners will be available at AA.com/totheworld between Jan. 2 and Jan. 31, 2007.

The promotion is open to individuals 18 years or older at the time of entry, legally residing in Chicago and the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The promotion is limited to one entry per person, per e-mail address, per day, as well as one instant win prize and one grand prize per person, household or family.

Sky Sweeps Watch and Win Sweepstakes

Between Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, 2006, American Airlines will take to the sky and to the streets giving six lucky Chicagoans the opportunity to win travel for two anywhere in the world American Airlines flies. Teams of people dressed in internationally-themed costumes will spread out across Chicago business districts to hand out boarding passes that will serve as "Watch and Win" game pieces. Each boarding pass will feature one of American Airlines multiple worldwide destinations.

Each day between Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, Chicagoans who obtain boarding passes will need to look to the sky between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the 75-by-135 foot aerial billboard displaying the day's winning destination to determine if they have one of six winning passes. Daily winning destinations will also be available online at AA.com/totheworld.

Six people will hold grand prize winning game pieces with the featured destinations. Grand prize winners will receive round-trip travel for two anywhere in the world American Airlines flies.

The "Watch and Win" sweepstakes is open to Chicagoland residents 18 years of age or older, including those in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.

One-Time 10 Percent Travel Discount

Between Oct. 24 and Nov. 19, 2006, residents of Chicago who own a cell phone can earn a 10 percent discount off their next American Airlines trip by text messaging the word "WORLD" to 88398. Cell phone users who text this message will automatically receive a one-time 10 percent discount code for use with their next flight reservation on AA.com.

The one-time 10 percent discount code must be entered when booking reservations on AA.com and is valid for up to six passengers ticketed at the same time and traveling on the same itinerary from Chicago to anywhere in the world. The discount code must be used to ticket on AA.com by Dec. 19, 2006, and travel must be completed by March 31, 2007.

The 10 percent discount is available through mobile phone text messaging only with major U.S. cellular telephone carriers. The discount is not available for use with existing reservations and cannot be combined with any other special offer or discount. One discount code is available per passenger, per cell phone number.
