Arcadia, Inc. Sponsored the Mobile Monday St. Petersburg Event28 June 2006
Mobile Monady (MoMo) is an informal networking place for ICT companies, which started in 2000 in Helsinki, Finland, and since then has been held monthly in different parts of the world. Nowadays MoMo takes place in 21 countries in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The network includes 25 cities, according to the latest estimations the number will have been 40 by the end of the year. In May 2006 during the Mobile Monday Global Summit the committee took a decision of launching the event in Russia. As Jari Tammisto, Mobile Monday Helsinki founder, put it: "Mobile Mondays" in Russia will be interesting first of all as a uniting factor for the local IT-community and a means of easier communication with foreign colleagues". The event is completely free for participants, however, it helps accomplish particular business partnership benefits which can't be reduced to financial points only. MoMo St. Petersburg was organized by Mikhail Novikov (Admin, Ltd.) and sponsored by Arcadia, Inc., Arcadia ++ recruitment agency and I-Free company. Besides Jari Tammisto, the speeches were delivered by Eugeny Krouglov (Marketing director, United Fun Traders), Yuri Ivanov (CEO, Arcadia++) and Victor Naumov (Beiten Burkhardt). Among the participants there were representatives of the Scandinavian Group, an alliance of Russian software developers with the goal of deep integration into the North-European market. Arcady Khotin (Director General, Ardin Software Oy, Arcadia, Inc.), one of the main initiators of this alliance and of the Mobile Monday St. Petersburg itself, said: "I like the format of these events, when colleagues from the same or close industries encounter in informal atmosphere and have an opportunity talk shop or just chat about their common problems and accomplishments in person". However, the official part, being the main purpose of this event, was of great interest as well -- provoking important considerations about the prospects of local outsourcing business, emphasizing positive tendencies in developing this infrastructure in Russia and the country's obvious integration into the world-wide network of ICT. As Mikhail Novikov declared, the next Mobile Monday is planned for September 2006, and afterwards such events will be held in St. Petersburg and Moscow on a regular basis. The organizers of MoMo are cherishing hopes to involve more and more participants from various Russian regions and respected foreign guests.
