Australasia’s Biggest Wireless Conference Today

26 November 2005

Australasia’s Biggest Wireless Conference Set To Wow

The APEC of the wireless industry kicks off in Auckland tomorrow.

Convergence ’05 is Australasia’s largest wireless mobility conference and exhibition attracting leading IT and technology companies from across the Asia/Pacific region.

This year it’s being staged in conjunction with the Asian-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation’s annual summit (ASOCIO ’05), in what will be one of the largest events of its kind ever held in this country.

It’s the first time ASOCIO, which represents more than 10,000 companies from 24 countries in the Asia-Oceania region, has held its summit in New Zealand.

As well as exhibits from some of New Zealand’s leading IT and technology companies and organisations, wireless business seminars will be held throughout the day.

Delegates will hear from leading national and international speakers including Guy Mason, the Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Systems at English Welsh & Scottish Railway Ltd who will speak about the issues and opportunities surrounding the wireless technology WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access).

Other speakers include Tetsuzo Matsumoto, the Chairman of QUALCOMM South East Asia/Pacific and Japan who will talk about 3G evolution and wireless convergence, and David Gee, the head of marketing at Lucent Technologies in Australia who will talk about blended lifestyle services – a view of future 3G application services.

Telecom Mobile’s GM Kevin Kenrick will give a presentation on putting customers at the heart of convergence, and Vodafone NZ’s GM of Business Innovations will speak on the real 3G and the business of now.

Mike Donald, Managing Director of Terralink International, will talk about leveraging the location of information – the convergence of geographic information systems and telecommunications.

Wireless Forum President Steve Inglis says since it was established in 2002, Convergence has become a must-attend event for business and IT decision makers. ADVERTISEMENT

“The event just continues to grow and grow. And no doubt it will continue to grow because it provides such a great opportunity to share and promote leading edge innovation, and to showcase our efforts to an international audience.”

Convergence will be held at Sky City in Auckland on Friday 25 November. Entry is free. For more information check out: http://www.wirelessforum.org.nz
