Boardroom Communications Tapped to Handle Statewide Public Affairs Campaign for Florida Property & Casualty Association31 January 2006
Boardroom Communications, one of South Florida's leading public relations firms, has been tapped to provide media relations for Florida Property & Casualty Association's (FPCA) public affairs campaign regarding the current state of Florida's auto insurance market and the issues relating to the preservation and improvement of Florida's Personal Injury Protection (PIP) auto insurance system. FPCA is made up of a group of domestic auto insurers that focus on the non-standard market. The group and its members are active in the efforts to reform, rather than replace, Florida's PIP auto insurance system, which is set to sunset in 2007. Some in the Florida Legislature want to do away with PIP altogether and replace it with a Bodily Injury (BI) system. But FPCA believes this would be devastating to many motorists who rely on PIP for health care benefits, disability benefits, and death benefits. According to FPCA, other states that have switched to the BI system have experienced catastrophic results such as delays in settling claims, non-payment of medical bills, a proliferation of BI lawsuits in the county and circuit courts and overloading hospital emergency rooms.
