Carrier Access Delays Filing Form 10-Qs for the First and Second Quarters 2005

Carrier Access Corporation (NASDAQ: CACSE), a
manufacturer of broadband communications equipment, today announced that
the filing of its quarterly financial results for the quarters ended March
31, 2005 and June 30, 2005, respectively, will be delayed beyond the
September 2, 2005 extended filing date. Carrier Access is in the process of
diligently completing its quarterly reports on Form 10-Q for the first and
second quarters of 2005. Carrier Access expects to file its quarterly
report on Form 10-Q for the first and second quarters of 2005 with the SEC
on or before September 13, 2005. As a result of the Company's delay in
filing its Form 10-Qs for the first and second quarters of 2005, Carrier
Access expects to receive notification from NASDAQ that it is not in
compliance with the filing requirements for continued listing on NASDAQ and
that its securities could be subject to delisting from the NASDAQ National
Market. Accordingly, the Company is seeking an exception from the NASDAQ
Listing Qualifications Panel for additional time to regain compliance with
the NASDAQ listing requirements by filing its quarterly reports for the
first and second quarters of 2005 by September 13, 2005. There can be no
assurance that the Panel will grant any additional exception or that we
will be able to file the first or second quarter 2005 quarterly reports on
Form 10-Q by September 13, 2005.
