CenterTelecom Selects Lucent Technologies and Juniper Networks14 March 2005
Lucent Technologies ( NYSE: LU ) and Juniper Networks, Inc. ( NASDAQ: JNPR ) today announced that they will deploy a next-generation Internet Protocol ( IP ) network solution for PJSC CenterTelecom ( CenterTelecom ), one of the largest carriers in Russia providing telecommunication services in the Central Federal District of Russia.
The network will enable CenterTelecom to introduce new services throughout its service area in the Central Federal District. This is a continuation of CenterTelecom"s co-operation with Lucent, which began in 2002 with the deployment of an advanced multiservice network. This new network will enable CenterTelecom to create a seamless next-generation network architecture, converging its transport networks on a common IP Multiprotocol Label Switching ( MPLS ) core and creating the environment for it to offer its subscribers a broad range of business and consumer services, such as Internet access, Virtual Private Network ( VPN ) offerings, Voice over IP, as well as other value-added and multimedia services.

Lucent and Juniper Networks are providing an integrated multiservice solution that includes the routing platforms for an IP MPLS core network and access systems that will interconnect the existing CenterTelecom regional networks. Lucent Worldwide Services ( LWS ) will provide installation, technical support and maintenance services, as well as overall systems integration for the project.

The network will support a variety of network access technologies and interfaces including Asynchronous Transfer Mode ( ATM ) and additional VPN functions. The solution for CenterTelecom includes Lucent APX® 1000 Universal Access Gateway, Juniper Networks M7i and ERX-705 routing platforms.
