CTE to Offer Internet-Accessible Electronic Games19 April 2005
Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, Inc. ("CTE") (NASDAQ:CTCO - News), today announced that it will soon begin offering Internet-accessible electronic games to its customers as a result of the signing of agreements with two premium game companies: Zone4Play, Inc. (OTCBB:ZFPI - News), a provider of multi-platform gaming solutions; and Exent Technologies, a provider of secure digital delivery of CD-quality games. CTE expects to launch the services of Internet games in the 2005 third quarter. The Internet games offerings will add an exciting entertainment component to CTE's existing portfolio of voice, video and data services. CTE will offer the new services to residential customers in the combined footprint of the company's two primary operations: Commonwealth Telephone Company ("CT") and CTSI, LLC ("CTSI"). CTE's agreement with Zone4Play will enable subscribers to select from a suite of single and multi-player games, as well as play-for-fun casino type games. The suite of multi-player games includes Texas Hold'em Poker, Bingo and Blackjack; additional games include Roulette, Slots, Video Poker and Caribbean Poker. All of the games will be accessible via the Internet.
The "Games on Demand" solution from Exent Technologies, also Internet accessible, will allow subscribers to download and play full-version PC CD-ROM games spanning a wide range of genres, including top game brands from leading publishers in the strategy, action, simulation, sports, and casual gaming genres. In addition, a wide variety of children's and family software will also be available, featuring Clifford the Big Red Dog, I SPY, Freddi Fish, and a complete array of education-oriented selections.
"We are excited to give our customers the ability to select from an outstanding portfolio of games, as a result of our agreements with both Zone4Play and Exent Technologies," said DG Gulati, CTE's senior vice president - Operations Strategy and Development. "The variety of game selections - from casino to adventure to educational - will ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Our agreements with both Zone4Play and Exent Technologies allow CTE to provide its customers with an outstanding entertainment component to our existing suite of voice, video and data products and services."
Gulati noted that there will be a set monthly subscription price for the "Games on Demand" package, and another one for the casino type game packages. "The monthly subscriptions will enable customers to decide what games they want to play, and when they want to play. They don't have to worry about selections being out-of-stock, or late fees, as you would with store rentals; plus customers will have the convenience of one bill for all of their CTE services, including Internet games," added Gulati.
"We are honored to propose some of our best portfolio games to CTE's customers," said Idan Miller, senior vice president of Marketing and Sales at Zone4Play. "Our multi-player games, and especially the multi-player Texas Hold'em Poker - the most playable game on the Internet today - and our new ground-breaking multi-player Black Jack, will add tremendous opportunity for fun and excitement," Miller noted.
"Both CTE and the consumer will benefit from the tremendous value that 'Games on Demand' brings," said Zvi Levgoren, CEO, Exent Technologies. "Exent's services have a track record of increasing revenue and reducing customer churn for broadband providers by giving customers the ability to access hundreds of high-quality games for one affordable price," stated Levgoren.
