Ericsson to supply HSPA network to STC in Saudi Arabia26 June 2006
Saudi Telecom (STC) has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERICY) as the primesupplier for its new HSPA network, which will enable STC to introducea wide range of premium quality multimedia and high-speed dataservices to the Saudi users. Under the agreement Ericsson will deliver packet core, radio accessand transmission for the new network in the central and westernprovinces of Saudi Arabia. The contract also includes a nationwide network upgrade based onEricsson's market-leading mobile softswitch solution. The systemrollout has already started. Ericsson's HSPA will enable the operator to introduce a newgeneration of services, such as mobile triple play - a combination ofvoice, high-speed data and TV on the mobile phone. The packet coresolution will assure that the new IP based services will be deliveredcost efficiently with telecom quality.
