Essex Corporation Product Division Achieves ISO 9001 Certification23 February 2006
Essex Corporation (Nasdaq: KEYW) announced today that its Commercial Communications Product Division (CCPD) has completed ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001 quality system certification. ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards adopted by 154 countries and has become an international reference for quality management requirements. The achievement of ISO 9001 certification is an important milestone for CCPD as it begins shipping innovative communications products in 2006, and it reflects the Essex commitment to quality and excellence for its customers. "Innovation, quality, and technology solutions for the toughest problems are hallmarks of Essex Corporation," according to Leonard Moodispaw, CEO and President. "In less than one year from its inception, CCPD has moved out quickly, having created a new optics center in our Melbourne office, launched three products, received its first production order and now they have achieved this important product industry certification. The dedication, skills, and accomplishments of this team are examples of the commitment and focus that Essex is bringing to the product element of our value strategy. CCPD is part of a focused product initiative within Essex that is bringing innovative optical, communications, and radar products to market this year." ISO 9001:2000 assessment and certification was completed by SGS Systems & Services Certification Division of SGS U.S. Testing Company, Inc. in January 2006. As part of the certification process, Essex implemented systems and processes to promote uniform high quality results throughout our product development and production activities. These systems are designed to deliver consistently high quality, reduce cycle time, and improve efficiencies. Regular, independent auditing ensures ISO 9001 continuing compliance. Essex CCPD offers fiber optic modules and subsystems for advanced communications applications in both the commercial and government markets. Located in Melbourne, Florida, Essex CCPD designs, manufactures, integrates, and tests the products that include 80 km XFP Transceivers, DuoBinary MSA Transponders, and Microwave Transceiver Assemblies. Datasheets for these products may be viewed and downloaded from our website, at http://www.essexcorp.com/CCPD/index.html. They will also be highlighted in our booth at the Optical Fiber Conference which is being held in Anaheim, CA, March 6-10, 2006.
