Gary Hale of Global Internetworking to Chair Session on Global Provisioning at Pacific Telecom16 January 2005
Hale, who developed the session topic and content, said: "Operating in a global environment and expanding into international markets provides tremendous challenges to telecom carriers and service providers. But, with help from a knowledgeable source, these challenges are not insurmountable and, in fact, do not have to be as problematic as one might think."
Off-net provisioning enables a carrier or service provider to expand their network into new areas by interconnecting with another existing network, rather than undertaking the time and expense to build out their own network to a new area.
The session, titled "Meeting the Challenge of Off-Net Provisioning in a Global Environment," will strive to provide an overview of the new innovative approaches and best practices used for off-net provisioning. It will also outline the challenges carriers and service providers face when working to expand the in-country and global reach of their networks.
Topics to be covered include: Finding Competitive Off-Net Providers in Foreign Markets; International Regulatory and Interconnection Issues; Cross Border Monitoring & Management of Off-Net Circuits; Multi-Carrier Service Level Management; and Impact of MPLS, VoIP and Ethernet on Off-Net provisioning.
Joining Hale on the panel are Anthony Briscoe, the General Manager of Telecom New Zealand; Matthew Costello, the Vice President of Technology & Engineering of Wisor Telecom; Lewis Fiallo, the Director of Business Development of China Telecom USA; and Eu Gin Tan, Sales Director of Asia Pacific for Carrier and Wholesale of Sprint.
The session is being held from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, at PTC '05 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa in Honolulu.
