GlobalPhone Selects ScienceLogic EM7 System for Network, Application, VOIP and Server Management

24 July 2005

ScienceLogic® LLC, whose revolutionary EM7™ System is deployed in networks throughout the government, military and commercial sectors, announced today that GlobalPhone Corporation, a facilities-based global telecommunications supplier, has selected the EM7 System to manage and monitor its network, application, VoIP and server infrastructure.

GlobalPhone serves its global customers via servers in its Virginia data center and numerous Cisco AS5300s around the world. Their previous management software gave the company only the ability to "ping" gateways and servers to see if they were running or not. “We were using a mish mash of systems – WhatsUp® Gold, APC® PowerShoot and VoIP Watchdog™ -- to manage the network, but it just wasn’t a satisfactory solution," said Stephen McCarthy, GlobalPhone founder and president. "We had looked at HP OpenView network management software to replace our existing systems, but we never seriously considered moving forward with it because of the cost and the difficulty of installation."

Then JBCubed, ScienceLogic’s sales partner, introduced the EM7 System to GlobalPhone. "I had never seen a product quite like it," McCarthy said. "It's a very rich tool and offered greater standard functionality than HP OpenView at considerable savings, because many of the 'optional modules' in HP OpenView are already included in the EM7 System."

Installing the EM7 System took GlobalPhone only three days. "If you add up the time it took us to install the various systems we had in place before EM7, it would come to weeks, if not months," McCarthy said. "With the EM7 System, we have one comprehensive IT management system that simplifies everything.

"Since installing the EM7 System last month, we've gained many more capabilities, including email notifications that let us handle things before they become problems," McCarthy said. "With EM7, we can view our entire network in one web-based portal, accessible from anywhere, and we’re still discovering ways that EM7 can save us time and money. Instead of doing a daily manual check of each of the 50 servers, for example, we now simply pull a report through the EM7 interface whenever we need it. The network is very complex; if one server gets too full it has a cascading effect. Now, if a threshold has been exceeded, we get a warning instead of a crash."

The EM7 Relational Infrastructure Management System
The EM7™ System is a relational IT management system powered by patent-pending technology that integrates IT management, security and compliance systems. The EM7 System dramatically improves the efficiency and accuracy of enterprise, network and IT workflow management processes. It is the world's first solution in the new category of Relational Infrastructure Management (RIM). RIM is a class of products employing technology that integrates disparate infrastructure and application management systems with business processes, via a shared interface and common data repository. RIM products simplify compliance and corporate governance activities, improve data consistency, and increase user efficiency.

The EM7 System is loaded with cost-saving features—including reduced implementation time, support and maintenance costs and the elimination of costly legacy solutions—that add up to a significantly shorter return-on-investment period than for traditional management products. Armed with the EM7 System's intuitive web-based portal interface and integrated reporting module, IT managers can manage everything connected to their network proactively, as well as automate thousands of manual reporting tasks, saving hundreds of man hours. The EM7 System aggregates numerous IT infrastructure management applications, tools and reporting features in one easy-to-use appliance server. The EM7 System utilizes a common data store for all information collected, giving IT managers a single-point-of-truth view of their entire IT operation.

The EM7 System and its Environmental Monitoring System currently are available for sale directly from ScienceLogic or through ScienceLogic’s authorized resellers. For more information, call 1-800-724-5644 (1-800-SCI-LOGI) or visit our web site at www.sciencelogic.com.
