Head of Schering-Plough Global Communications Named 2004 Communicator of the Year8 February 2005
Winton was recognized for his work in expanding the scope of the global communications department at Schering-Plough and for opening dialogue with internal audiences and external stakeholders.

Winton joined Schering-Plough in September 2003 in his present position, heading the corporate external and internal communications functions. One of his major achievements was the establishment of a new, integrated product communications group that is providing non-advertising communications strategy and implementation support for all Schering-Plough products on a worldwide basis.
Before joining Schering-Plough, Winton served as vice president of global public relations for Pharmacia Corporation, directing public relations activities for all of the company's global businesses and overseeing advocacy development to build collaborative relationships. He previously served with the U.S. operations of Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc., where he led public relations, public affairs and advocacy development initiatives for the infectious disease brand portfolio. Earlier in his career, Winton worked for Wyeth and for a number of prominent public relations and advertising agencies.
Winton obtained a B.S. degree in 1980, with distinction, in life sciences from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. and has completed several graduate-level courses at Union Theological Seminary/Columbia University in New York.
