Lakota Defines Multiple Drill Targets on Tembo

20 January 2007

Lakota Resources Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: LAK) is pleased to announce gold results from additional grab samples of artisanal workings on the Company's 100% owned TEMBO project in Tanzania. A total of 257 grab samples were collected from 7 zones of artisanal pits excluding the 88 previously reported samples collected from one zone (see Press Release dated Dec. 19, 2006). Illustrated on Figure 1 are the Company's property boundaries, Barrick Gold's Bulyanhulu gold mine and geological orientation, and the sampled artisanal zones with corresponding figure.

Artisanal miners assisted in collection of samples from exploited quartz veins, as well as from their host rocks. In addition, a few representative random samples were collected from surface rock piles. Gold occurs in the quartz veins and in mafic volcanics that host quartz veins. Pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite were observed in some of the samples. Table 1 lists the number of samples collected from each artisanal zone and the number of samples illustrated on the corresponding figure. Generally only those samples that returned a value of 0.50 g/t gold or higher are illustrated on Figures 2 through 9, however, occasionally a lower but elevated gold value has been plotted to assist with interpretation.

Table 1. Summary of grab samples collected from each artisanal zone.

(ii)analytical data has only been obtained for 34 of the 72 collected samples from this zone.

All of the sampled east northeast as well as northwest trending quartz veins in the artisanal workings are situated in the interpreted stratigraphic equivalence of the footwall zone of the northwest trending, northeast dipping, Barrick Gold Corporation's Bulyanhulu gold mine situated approximately 6 kilometres to the east southeast with the exception of the artisanal zone illustrated on Figure 2 and referenced on Figure 1.

The continuing rock grab sampling program has been successful in indicating the presence of gold within a number of quartz veins hosted predominantly within mafic volcanics; locally, felsic volcanics are present. Observed quartz vein thicknesses in the various artisanal zones varies from less than a metre to approximately 3 metres, however, the true thickness of the gold bearing quartz veins is not known. It has been reported that gold at the Bulyanhulu gold mine is hosted in quartz veins, over a strike length of 5 kilometres and averages 2 to 3 metres wide (Barrick website, 2006) within argillite at the contact between mafic and felsic rocks. Year-end 2005 proven and probable reserves at Bulyanhulu were reported to be 25.916 million tons grading 0.414 ounces gold per ton for a total of 10.732 million ounces of contained gold. Gold production from Bulyanhulu was 311,000 ounces in 2005. (see www.barrick.com).

The mapping and grab sampling program of artisanal workings on the TEMBO project is on-going. Selected areas of the sampled artisanal workings will be targeted for reverse circulation (RC) drilling during Q1-2007.

The sample preparation and gold analysis by fire assay with atomic adsorption finish of a 50 gram pulp were carried out by SGS Laboratories in Mwanza. Blanks and commercial standards were inserted randomly with the samples submitted for preparation and analysis.
