Leading Japanese, International Telecom Companies to Be Represented at IEC1 March 2005
Leading Japanese communications carriers and manufactures and their international counterparts will participate in a major global conference and exhibition that has been announced for this spring in Yokohama.
The Broadband World Forum Asia, which is officially sponsored by NTT, will be presented May 30-June 2 at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center. NTT Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Norio Wada is official conference chairperson.
The event is being produced by a leading continuing education provider, the International Engineering Consortium (IEC). IEC announced this week that the world's top carriers and manufactures have committed to participate. They include Japanese companies like NTT, NEC, Fujitsu, Oki Electric and Alaxala. Many other multinational corporations are participating, such as Motorola, Siemens and Alcatel.
Registration is now open for the conference at the IEC web site, www.iec.org/events/2005/bbwf_asia2/.
Broadband World Forum Asia will include four days of educational programming on an extensive range of business and technical topics aimed at finding the right mix of technology and services to succeed in today's dynamic market. The IEC Broadband Forums have traditionally drawn thousands of telecom executives from wireless, wireline carriers, manufacturers, applications and content providers from Asia, North America and Europe.
The conference is complemented by a technology exhibition of the latest in communications products, applications and services.
"Japan's reputation as a worldwide technology leader and innovator in the communications arena makes it an ideal location for this broadband summit," said John Janowiak, the senior director of the IEC. "With broadband communications literally changing the way we live and work, and business models undergoing rapid change, it's important to gather to see where the industry is headed."
"We are honored to have NTT as the official sponsor of the Forum," Janowiak said. "NTT is setting the standard in broadband deployment, so they are an ideal host for this conference."
The IEC (www.iec.org), a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, USA, has been providing educational activities and acting as a link between the academic community and the business world for more than 60 years.
Its Broadband World Forums, which have been presented in both Europe and Asia, have developed into global summits of the telecom industry, where attendees can learn, network and analyze the newest developments in communications. The most recent Forum, held in September 2004, in Venice, Italy, drew more than 3,000 registrants from 55 nations. The most recent IEC conference, the 21st Century Communications World Forum, concluded Feb. 24 in London and drew thousands of delegates and exhibit attendees.
