Major Russian market player, RK Telecom, chooses ECT Group to form strategic partnership9 July 2005
The European Computer Telecoms Group (ECT) and Tehnoliga Ltd. have agreed to form a strategic partnership for the purpose of strengthening the ECT Group’s presence in the Russian Federation and the CIS. Tehnoliga supplies value-added services and telecoms equipment for fixed-line operators, mobile operators, and service providers, and is a major market player across the region. The company will serve as an important sales partner for the ECT Group.
With its headquarters in Moscow, Tehnoliga Ltd. has a proven track record for selling mobile value-added services and will focus on the ECT Group’s applications for Ring Back Tone, Mobile Office, Number Portability, Prepaid Mobile, and Prepaid Calling Cards. In the mid-term Tehnoliga will also market the entire range of ECT Group applications and platforms.
“ECT’s value-added services are ideally suited to boost the average revenue per user for mobile carriers and to widen their product portfolio,” said Roman Shlotskiy, managing director of Tehnoliga. “I see a high potential in the Russian Federation and the CIS for ECT’s solutions.”
The move by ECT to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing markets of the region comes shortly after the Russian government’s announcement that mobile carriers must provide number portability. Number Portability is one of the ECT Group’s core competencies, and the company has implemented several pan-European solutions (e.g., for the Tele2 Group).
In forming this strategic partnership, the ECT Group continues to pay tribute to the rapid development of the mobile market in the Russian Federation and the CIS. “Mobile customers in the region have a strong demand for individualisation features,” said Sergej Klunk, area manager for the Russian Federation and the CIS. “I am looking forward to expanding our successes in collaboration with Tehnoliga.” After establishing an ECT sales and service centre for the Russian Federation and the CIS in 2004, the partnership with Tehnoliga marks the second step in boosting the ECT Group’s presence.
“Tehnoliga is an excellent partner for the ECT Group in this important market,” added Dr. Marshall E. Kavesh, CEO and co-founder of ECT. “We are confident that our partnership with Tehnoliga will be a great success.”
