McAfee Provides Industry-First Mobile Virus Protection For NTT DoCoMo FOMA23 November 2004

McAfee is offering subscribers of Japan's mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo a mobile content scanning technology designed to provide protection against future mobile threats.
McAfee VirusScan Content Scanning technology, the industry's first mobile virus scanning solution,is jointly developed with NTT DoCoMo and is offered as as a built-in service on the new FOMA 901i series 3G mobile phones.
"The recent discovery of worms like 'Cabir' demonstrate the need for security solutions specifically designed to protect consumers from harmful mobile viruses," said VictorKouznetsov, senior vice president of McAfee Mobile Solutions. "This partnership with NTT DoCoMo allows us to leverage our joint strengths to develop solutions for mobile handsets."
Since January 2002, NTT DoCoMo and McAfee have engaged in development efforts with the understanding that security will become increasingly important in future mobile phones.
"We are happy that the technology jointly developed using McAfee's security technology and NTT DoCoMo's mobile technology is incorporated into NTT DoCoMo's mobile phones. We would like to thank McAfee for their technological prowess and development co-operation," said Mr. Koji Chiba, Managing Director of NTT DoCoMo's Customer Equipment Development Department.
