Medical Intelligence announces signing of letter of intent with European company ModeLabs12 January 2006
Medical Intelligence Technologies (TSX-V: MIZ) announces the signing of a letter of intent with ModeLabs, the specialist in the designing and distribution of mobile telephony products, to expand the sales market of its locating and medical assistance bracelet for Alzheimer's patients. Medical Mobile, the French subsidiary of Medical Intelligence, plans to collaborate with ModeLabs to extend the sale of the Columba phone bracelet to France's major mobile telephone distribution networks: superstores and specialty outlets. ModeLabs has a combined international distribution network providing direct access to general and specialty distributors, operators, retailers and wholesalers in the major European countries. The network complements the one announced earlier by Medical Intelligence with DGX Pharma, covering the 22,400 pharmacies in France. The initial order that has been discussed with ModeLabs, under the current agreement, is expected to be for 2,000 bracelets. "The interest expressed in our bracelet by a network such as ModeLabs is a major advantage from a distribution standpoint," said Louis Massicotte, the president of Medical Mobile and the founder of Medical Intelligence. "This will allow the consumer to obtain the Columba bracelet in pharmacies as well as in mobile phone outlets, thereby providing greater accessibility to the product." For ModeLabs, distributing the Columba bracelet is another step in the diffusion of segmented mobile telephone offerings that combine products and services. "We are delighted that, in the near future, we will be able to offer the Columba bracelet combining mobile telephone features, geopositioning and assistance and security services to the individual, providing an Alzheimer's patient with more freedom of movement and a source of reassurance to their family and medical attendants," remarked Gregory Bonniot, market director for ModeLabs. "Our segmented market approach enables us to fulfill the needs of specific consumers for whom the mobile telephone brings comfort, security and peace of mind." Medical Intelligence introduced the Columba bracelet in Paris last June to move forward with its final market testing with its partners - Orange, France's largest mobile telephony operator, and AXA Assistance, the leading provider of medical assistance. Since the spring of 2005, the company has signed agreements with Pasteur Mediavita, an affiliate of the Pasteur Institute, to assess institutional and governmental distribution opportunities, and with DGX Pharma, a major pharmaceutical distributor through which the Columba bracelet will be getting into France's 22,400 pharmacies. ABOUT MODELABS The ModeLabs group is a new generation telecommunications player that develops a "Mobile on Demand" offering, an integrated process combining the design, development and distribution of mobile telephones, accessories and services for operators, distributors and major brands.
