Medical Intelligence announces the expanded distribution of Columba phone-bracelets in France26 May 2006
Medical Intelligence Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: MIZ) and its French affiliate, Medical Mobile, proudly announced today that Orange, the first mobile telecommunications carrier in France, will expand the distribution of Columba phone-bracelets across France Telecom's network. This way, not only will the families of Alzheimer's patients be able to order the Columba phone-bracelets from France Telecom stores, branded as "Handicap Solutions", as originally expected, but they will also have access to the product through any France Telecom or Mobistore agency. This most important distribution network expansion is the result of a signed letter of intent unveiled last January, in which the parties declared assessing whether to distribute the Columba phone-bracelet only within France Telecom's network of Handicap Solutions stores, or on a wider scale throughout France Telecom agencies. Today's announcement confirms that within the next few weeks, Orange and France Telecom will ensure the distribution of Columba phone-bracelets via their distribution and sales networks, including stores, telemarketing functions and web and catalogue retail availability. "The distribution of our product across France Telecom's network constitutes a unique spearhead opportunity to position our phone-bracelet as a wide-range distribution niche product", stated Louis Massicotte, President- Founder of Medical Intelligence Technologies Inc. and President of Medical Mobile. "We are grateful for the open-mindedness and warm welcome that Orange and France Telecom corporate executives have shown us, and we thank them for it." ABOUT THE COLUMBA BRACELET The Medical Intelligence-developed Columba phone-bracelet to prevent disappearance among Alzheimer's patients is a definitive solution to the problems of wandering and straying caused by Alzheimer's disease. Combining "handsfree" portable telephone, GPS positioning system and intelligent alert system that detects any wandering outside of a security zone, the Columba device is able to quickly locate the person who has strayed this pre-defined zone, thereby reducing the risks associated with Alzheimer's patients' wanderings. ABOUT MEDICAL INTELLIGENCE AND MEDICAL MOBILE Medical Intelligence is the leader in the personal medical tele-security industry, integrating information and telecommunications technologies to the healthcare sector. The firm designs portable medical devices equipped with an automatic alarm system for the benefit of people suffering from cognitive disorders or cardiovascular diseases. The Quebec (Canada)-based company also has an office in Paris. Its French affiliate, Medical Mobile, is the first such company to provide medical "telecom" service, personal and mobile "telemedicine".
