Mitec Investigates Strategic Alternatives

Mitec Telecom Inc. (TSX: MTM) announced today that is has retained the services of Orion Securities Inc. to assist the company in exploring strategic alternatives.

Mr. David Scott, Chairman of Mitec's Board of Directors, stated, "Mitec has built two distinct businesses, which today offer best-of-class technologies and products for their respective markets. While the status quo
remains an alternative, we have reached the point where growing these businesses via operating cash flows and periodic small-scale financings may not be the best or only strategy for Mitec and its shareholders. Accordingly, Mitec's Board of Directors has decided to investigate a range of strategic alternatives with the ultimate goal of maximizing shareholder value."

"We are very excited about the prospects for both the Telecom and Satcom groups over the next few years," stated Keith Findlay, Mitec's Interim President and CEO. "As we work towards rebuilding Mitec's value proposition, it is prudent and in the best interests of our shareholders, customers and employees to consider alternatives that will allow both of the groups to reach their full potential."

Orion Securities Inc. has been engaged to lead the initiative on Mitec's behalf and to advise the Board and management.
