MTI Technology Facilitates Remote Recovery Services Business for Horry Telephone Cooperative to Assist Companies in Disaster Prone Areas

MTI Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: MTIC), a multi-national provider of consulting services and comprehensive information infrastructure solutions, and Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC), the nation's largest telephone cooperative, jointly announced today "HTC E2IT Remote Recovery Services," a technology solution to support a new remote data recovery service.

MTI implemented this new backup and recovery service for HTC to help its small to medium business (SMB) customers protect and restore vital data in the event of a disaster. HTC E2IT is the umbrella under which HTC will offer a comprehensive menu of managed services, including Remote Recovery Services, Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) design, firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN) security, and intrusion detection services.

Utilizing state-of-the-art remote data protection software, customer data is backed up to the HTC data center where it is stored on a two-tiered architecture consisting of highly scalable RAID storage systems and enterprise-class tape libraries," said Lance Broell, director of marketing for MTI. "This means that in the wake of a disaster, customers utilizing the service can fully restore their systems within hours, or sometimes even minutes, depending on the applications and size of the data being backed up."

HTC E2IT Remote Recovery Services alleviate the need for customers to maintain and update backup and recovery hardware and software in-house. By reducing or eliminating the need for additional internal IT resources required to create consistent backups, and the verification of those backups, customers can realize significant cost savings. In addition, HTC E2IT Remote Recovery Services run seamlessly in the background, which means there is no disruption to business applications.

The solution also employs state-of-the-art security using AES 256 encryption that prevents unauthorized access to customers' data and meets legal requirements for compliance within the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
