MTS Allstream and Lavalife recognized at Canadian Information Productivity Awards13 December 2006
MTS Allstream, one of Canada's leading national communication solutions providers, is pleased to announce that its customer, Lavalife Corp. has received national recognition for its ability to design technical solutions that meet specific business requirements. Lavalife won the Silver Award for Excellence in the category of Technical Innovation for its Voice over IP (VoIP) solution at the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) last month. The Awards recognize companies with technical solutions that were developed to address particular business requirements. Nominated by MTS Allstream, the award acknowledges Lavalife's VoIP solution, which uses MTS Allstream's leading-edge MPLS technology. The MPLS technology was designed specifically by MTS Allstream to meet Lavalife's business requirements of greater operational efficiencies, and a more efficient cost structure. In recent years, Lavalife's Voice Personals product, based on Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology, was increasingly under threat from challengers. Profitability was restricted by the need to maintain multiple points of presence across North America at significant expense while meeting regional telephone company requirements. In response, MTS Allstream worked with Lavalife to develop a way to capture all of Lavalife's Canadian calls using Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. Together, MTS Allstream and Lavalife built the first significant inbound local and toll-free VoIP platform in Canada. Today, all Lavalife traffic is delivered centrally to Lavalife's IVR applications as an inbound VoIP stream over a private IP network. "The measure of a great relationship is how both parties head into the unknown. Over the course of our work with MTS Allstream, we have done a number of things that neither of us have done before and MTS Allstream responded as well or better than we could ever have expected," said Loren Hicks, Chief Information Officer, Lavalife. "This is more than just a supplier/customer relationship; we see MTS Allstream as a real partner in our business, and look forward to having the company at our side as we tackle the next big projects." "This award is a great example of true collaboration and how MTS Allstream really listens to, and works with our customers to help them succeed in the area of innovation while meeting their unique business requirements," said Eric Fletcher, Senior Vice President of Marketing, MTS Allstream. "Lavalife is a leading provider of technology-based services and we're proud to have contributed to their success in this area."
