Openwave Names Marc Levante as Chief Technology Officer

Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced the appointment of Marc Levante as chief technology officer (CTO), effective February 1, 2006. Levante, a communications industry veteran with nearly twenty years of experience, joins Openwave's management team from Vodafone Group plc, the world's leading mobile telecommunications company. In his role as Openwave CTO, Levante will be a key member of the executive team, driving innovation in all aspects of Openwave's industry-leading software solutions and services.

From 2001 to 2005, Marc was the Director of Technology Development in Vodafone Group and since the beginning of 2005 he led the Radio and Access Transmission Competence Center in Vodafone Global in Dusseldorf, Germany. Prior to working at Vodafone Group, Marc held key technology positions at Vodafone Italy and Airtouch.
