PHEAA Receives Communicator Awards for Student Aid Publications18 April 2006
PHEAA's Pennsylvania's Guide to Student Aid 2006-2007 and The Right Tools Campaign have received Awards of Distinction from The Communicator Awards. This international awards program recognizes excellence in the communication field, with entries based solely on quality, creativity and resourcefulness. The Award of Distinction is given for projects that exceed industry standards in design or communication skills. Pennsylvania's Guide to Student Aid 2006-07 was awarded in the Public Service/Pro Bono category. This free public service publication is provided to students and their families to assist them in finding student aid funding for postsecondary education. The guide provides information on financial aid options, available programs, financial need determination and aid application. The Right Tools Campaign was awarded in the Program to Market Products or Services category. It is comprised of a series of newspaper and magazine ads, posters, postcards and bookmarks targeting high school students who are preparing to go on to higher education, specifically with information about PHEAA's award-winning EducationPlanner.org. Using the tagline "The right tools make all the difference" the ads communicate a message by using common situations where individuals are using absurd tools to try to accomplish a task. The Communicator Awards were founded by communication professionals with annual competitions recognizing excellence in video, audio and print media. About PHEAA and American Education Services As the nation's leading non-profit student aid organization, PHEAA earns money that is used to help Pennsylvania families pay for college, to create thousands of jobs, and to help keep taxes down. Doing business nationally as American Education Services (AES), we bring additional revenue back to the Commonwealth to benefit Pennsylvania families. PHEAA supplements the State Grant Program with an additional $72 million and thousands of additional grant awards, provides millions of dollars in free scholarships and loan forgiveness, develops award-winning online planning tools, and has saved our students more than $400 million by underwriting expensive upfront fees on student loans -- all at no cost to taxpayers. This year, we are investing more than $200 million of our business earnings to pay for free student aid for Pennsylvania families. Our success is Pennsylvania's success. As a non-profit legislative organization, our earnings stay in Pennsylvania to be used by Pennsylvania. For more information, please visit our Website at http://www.PHEAA.org.
