Popular Telephony Enters China24 February 2005
Popular Telephony, the telecommunications middleware company and creator of Peerio(TM) - the innovative technology for server-free, peer-to-peer communications, has expanded its growing presence in Asia by appointing Danny Liu Peng as a strategic People's Republic of China Sales Representative, and signing two Peerio licensing and deployment agreements.
Miami, United States and Sophia Antipolis, France, February 23, 2005 (Business Wire India) -- The appointment and agreements, announced at the Internet Telephony Conference in Miami, both signify the importance of the Peerio technology to the rapidly developing, strategic, Chinese market.
Mr. Liu comes to Popular Telephony with rich sales and sales management experiences, and a sound background in telecommunications. Liu's previous record includes executive sales and marketing positions in the various enterprises in China, including Viewtran Inc., iSoftel, Ztech Data Communications and other leading companies.

Liu's appointment follows two initial business contracts in China secured by Popular Telephony this month.
Popular Telephony has signed Peerio licensing agreements with Grand Digital Information Ltd. (GRANDi), a major supplier of network components and terminals, and EJoin Technology Co. Ltd.(Ejointech), the leading developer of VoIP and convergent telecommunications solutions.
Both companies' Peerio-enabled solutions will be positioned as an enterprise and carrier offering in China and worldwide.
The partnership with GRANDi involves licensing and integration of the award-winning Peerio middleware into GRANDi's GIP 2000 IP terminal for the enterprise. GIP 2000 will be the first Chinese IP phone for serverless operability, enabled by the Peerio embedded engine. The unit will support hundreds of PBX telephony features that previously only an IP PBX system would usually provide to the general market.
Collectively, Peerio-enabled devices form an intelligent, server-free telephony system, redundant, secure and scaleable, providing the level of 'user experience' similar to that of a traditional telephone system.
Enterprises deploying the Peerio-powered GRANDi devices will eliminate up to 80% of the actual system costs and up to 90% of Total Cost of Ownership, compared to an IP PBX.
