Procom Adds NEBS Version of NetFORCE 4000 Series NAS Filers25 February 2005
Procom Technology, Inc. (OTC: PRCM), a value leader in enterprise-class network attached storage (NAS) solutions, has introduced a Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) Level 3-compliant version of its high-end NetFORCE 4000 family of NAS filers. The new NetFORCE 4000N series offers the highest level of ruggedization and reliability ever offered by the company, making it especially suitable for OEM solutions that target telecommunications markets requiring NEBS compliance.
Comprising two carrier-class, rack-optimized models, the NetFORCE 4000N series is designed for integration into telecommunications environments that demand the ultimate in data availability for applications requiring reliable delivery of voice, data and video services.

NEBS Level 3-compliant systems are designed to survive such extreme conditions as 15,000 volts of electrical discharge, 144-degrees F temperature fluctuation, and earthquakes up to 8.3 on the Richter scale. The new NetFORCE 4000N filers use a different chassis than the standard NetFORCE 4000s and feature redundant -48 volt DC power supplies necessary for integration into the environment of telephone central switching offices.
Like the standard 4000 series, a clustered model -- the NF4250cN -- is available, scaling to 33 terabytes and featuring fully redundant active-active head units that simultaneously provide for increased performance and enhanced data availability. Storage density is optimized through the use of the latest array and disk technologies, and state-of-the-art processor and motherboard technologies assure the highest possible performance. Each configuration in the series features a modular, scalable architecture with redundant, hot-swappable components, multipathing and layered failover capabilities that eliminate single points of failure and provide for uninterrupted service.
Procom's acclaimed purpose-built NetFORCE operating system offers enterprise-class features such as a journaling 64-bit file system to ensure data integrity; dynamic expansion; checkpointing technology to facilitate the rapid recovery of accidentally deleted files; and, optionally, ProMirror, Procom's SAM (Safe Asynchronous Mirroring) technology. Other capabilities include heterogeneous file sharing, NDMP-compliant backup, directory tree quotas, comprehensive monitoring, automated error notification, and GUI or telnet-based administration.
