Prosoft Learning Corporation and Thomson Course Technology Expand Distribution Agreements25 March 2005
Prosoft Learning Corporation (Nasdaq:POSO) and Thomson Course Technology today announced that they have expanded their distribution agreements, adding more courseware titles from each other's product lines to their own catalogs to better serve their respective customer bases.
Prosoft's ComputerPREP division will begin distributing more than 300 titles from Thomson Course Technology's Crisp series of self-study business and professional development materials. The materials cover topics including business, management, office skills, finance, customer service, life skills, human resources, communication, writing, leadership and other professional development topics. These titles offer corporate-friendly training options that accommodate different learning styles and adapt to content delivery requirements and time constraints.
The Crisp series of business and professional development titles comes in a variety of formats, including workbooks suitable for self-study or instructor-led training (which feature activities, planning tools, self-evaluations and real-world examples), group training kits (ideal for classroom instruction and may include videos, Microsoft(R) PowerPoint(R) slides, overheads, handouts, answer keys and assessments), and CD-ROMs (which provide an interactive version of the workbooks).
"We have investigated the opportunity to provide professional development courseware to our established channel, because we believe that this topic area represents a significant growth area for us," said Benjamin Fink, Prosoft's president and CEO. "Our customers expect the highest quality courseware from us, and when we decided to distribute a third-party product it became evident that Crisp was the best solution. By providing our customers with a more comprehensive suite of business and professional development products in addition to our technology education products, we are one step closer to being a total solutions provider for all of our customers' workforce development needs."
Thomson Course Technology will offer Prosoft's official courseware for the CTP (Convergence Technologies Professional) certification program and the CCNT (Certified in Convergent Network Technologies) certification program. CTP, owned by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), is a high-stakes, vendor-neutral certification that validates mastery of the skills necessary to sell, install or support integrated voice, data and video technologies such as Voice over IP (VoIP). CCNT, endorsed by TIA, is a low-stakes vendor-neutral certification, certifying proficiency in foundational-level convergence technology topics. These titles were chosen by Thomson Course Technology because there is a growing need for basic convergence training and certification in the telecommunications industry, and acknowledgment of the CCNT and CTP programs and products is considered the best solution available today for that purpose.
Dave West, president of Thomson Course Technology, stated, "With the demand for convergence-technology skills rising so quickly, we want to ensure that we can offer our customers high-quality curriculum. Prosoft has developed a robust, industry-leading solution. We're quite pleased that we are able to join with Prosoft and offer what our customers require."
Prosoft and Thomson Course Technology began their relationship in November 2004, with two separate distribution agreements. The first distribution agreement allowed Prosoft's ComputerPREP division to distribute more than 200 Thomson Course Technology titles covering topics that were not in ComputerPREP's existing catalog. The second distribution agreement allowed Thomson Course Technology to distribute Prosoft's Official CIW Curriculum for the CIW Certification, the world's largest IT job-readiness certification program.
