Proxicast Adds Support For Verizon Wireless’ DMU / MIP / Static IP

At the CTIA Wireless 2005 tradeshow, Proxicast introduced its new LAN-Cell Mobile Gateway model 1xMG-401S secure cellular data router. Model 1xMG-401S incorporates an advanced CDMA2000 modem module with support for Verizon Wireless’ DMU / Mobile IP / Static IP service. This enables users to easily deploy LAN-Cell routers with static IP addressing for monitoring, site management, data collection, SCADA, and other remote wireless communications applications over Verizon Wireless’ NationalAcccess CDMA2000 1xRTT cellular network.

“Our CDMA LAN-Cell 1xMG-401S model enables us to offer Verizon Wireless customers the same static IP services enjoyed by customers of other carriers,” said Proxicast CEO Kevin Weaver. “For over 2 years, our customers have been deploying Proxicast LAN-Cell Mobile Gateways for remote connectivity on hundreds of projects. Now we can offer them static IP support on both CDMA and GPRS networks worldwide.”

The 1xMG-401S model joins the family of Proxicast LAN-Cell Mobile Gateway products providing fast, reliable, cost-effective Internet and VPN access wherever cellular data service is available. The LAN-Cell’s integrated 4-port switch, router, VPN client, firewall, and high-speed cellular data modem allow unlimited Ethernet based computers and devices to share a single cellular data connection and to seamlessly and securely connect to corporate networks from any remote location. The LAN-Cell is ideal for remote telemetry, SCADA, machine-to-machine communication (M2M) and field data collection as well as shared Internet access for mobile workgroups. The Verizon Wireless Dynamic Mobile IP Key Update (DMU) procedure is a mechanism for distributing and updating Mobile IP (MIP) cryptographic keys in CDMA2000 networks. The process enables mobile devices, such as the LAN-Cell, to securely obtain and maintain specific IP addresses even as they move within the cellular coverage area. All Proxicast LAN-Cell models also include support for Dynamic DNS addressability in addition to static IP addressing.
