Society for New Communications Research Issues Call for Papers for Peer-Reviewed Professional Journal

14 June 2006

Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) June 14, 2006 -- The Society for New Communications Research (http://www.sncr.org), a nonprofit global think tank dedicated to the advanced study of new media and emerging modes of communication and their effect on media, business and society, today issued a call for papers for the first issue of its peer-reviewed professional journal. The SNCR is seeking contributions based on original empirical research and on the theory, strategy and tactical use of participatory communications tools. The Journal of New Communications Research (JNCR) will be published in Fall 2006.

The JNCR will be unique among professional journals, featuring both text-based articles and new media contributions, and encouraging collaboration between contributors and the audience. The JNCR will be distributed as a print publication, accompanied by an electronic version, in order to allow for new media works to be included. The JNCR will also be available as a wiki to allow for collaboration and updates. The Society will invite comments from subscribers to each contribution via the wiki. This will create a living repository of research.

Submissions can take the form of articles, podcasts, video blogs and other new media contributions. Submissions should be in keeping with the mission of the SNCR: to conduct advanced study on the tools, technologies and emerging modes of communication (i.e. blogs, wikis, RSS, podcasts, collaborative tools, mobile media and the growing phenomena of participatory communications) and their effect on traditional media, marketing, public relations and advertising, as well as their broader impact on business, politics, entertainment, culture, education and society.

Successful submissions will exhibit in-depth, professional/scholarly examinations of these topics, and will be reviewed and chosen based on the quality of research conducted, originality of content, relevance to the Society's mission and excellence of execution.

Those interested should submit a project abstract of approximately 500 words via email by August 1, 2006. Those whose abstracts are chosen from this first round will be asked for a fully completed project for a final peer review by September 8, 2006. Final text-based contributions will be 5,000-7,500 words.

For more information, contact the Society at +1 (650) 331-0083.
