Speedera Launches SinoCDN(TM) Providing Content Delivery Network Services Inside China1 May 2005
Speedera Networks Inc., a leading global provider of on-demand distributed hosting and content delivery services, today announced Speedera SinoCDN(TM), the only service for in-country delivery of Web content within China that is provided by a truly global content delivery service provider. Other content delivery solutions for China either rely on a China-only delivery network, without any corresponding capability for global delivery, or attempt to deliver to Chinese Web users from servers located outside China. Using edge servers within China itself, the Speedera SinoCDN service provides a bridge between multinational enterprises' Web sites and their online customers in China, with superior performance, reliability, scalability and security.
SinoCDN is unique in being provided by a global content delivery service provider. Although Speedera is a U.S.-headquartered company, SinoCDN fully complies with Chinese government licensing requirements. The SinoCDN service utilizes an extensive network of dozens of points of presence covering all the major network carriers (such as China Netcom, China Telecom and China Unicom) within China -- a network which is in turn integrated into Speedera's globally distributed network to provide a seamlessly integrated delivery solution for both China and the rest of the world.
The potential of the China market is enormous. China boasts six of the world's top 20 most popular Web sites, has approximately 100 million Internet users, and is currently the second-largest Internet market in the world. It also is home to the largest Internet game market. In related telecommunications markets, China also looms large, with 30 percent of the world's mobile phone market (about 350 million users) and the largest landline phone market (also about 350 million users).
"The appetite of foreign multinational companies seeking to penetrate the China market is voracious, since it is the world's fastest growing economy. In fact, China is likely to surpass the United States in terms of the sheer number of Internet users by 2007," said Ajit Gupta, President and CEO of Speedera Networks. "SinoCDN is a bridge to the China market, ensuring that a company's Web content is delivered fast and reliably to Chinese end-users."
Customers who take advantage of the new SinoCDN service will realize immediate benefits:
-- Improved Web site delivery performance and availability to online users within China -- Ability to also take advantage of Speedera's worldwide content delivery network and the SpeedSuite family of services that this global network supports -- No risk of interruption of service to China due to government licensing issues -- Ability to deal with a global vendor providing a single point of account management, technical support and billing for worldwide content delivery services -- including access to the SpeedEye Web-based management portal, with extensive monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, logging and content management capabilities
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY The SinoCDN service is available immediately. Pricing is usage-based and requires a minimum commitment with a one-year contract.
