Telecom board to hold key meeting today

At a meeting late last week, Telecom Manager Dan Olsen apologized to the board for requesting yet another extension on a couple of important decisions. However, he assured the board that there will be no more delays after the upcoming meeting, which will be held in the city council chambers at 4 p.m.

“As of this morning, we were all set to go,” Olsen said. “But then a few things changed.”

The key changes have to do with service providers and agreements on telephone and Internet services.

“A few days could mean a significant savings in long-distance charges,” Olsen said. “Financially, it really makes sense.”

Olsen noted that the delay in this final key telecom decision will not slow down the telecom project in any way. Everything still points toward telecom start-up to occur sometime in March, Olsen said.
