Time Warner Telecom Delivers Voice and Data Network Solutions to Indianapolis' Community Health Network15 December 2005
Time Warner Telecom Inc. (Nasdaq: TWTC), a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses, today announced the successful installation of high speed voice and data services for Community Health Network's central Indiana Community Hospitals. Time Warner Telecom won the competitive bid earlier this year and has been transitioning data services since then. "Time Warner Telecom was able to meet our bandwidth needs, and exceed our expectations for installation, maintenance and service, which made them stand out from the competition," said Chris Cerny, Manager of Enterprise Networking, Community Health Network. "We selected Time Warner Telecom for our voice and data needs based on their flexibility." "In our business, rapid communication could possibly mean the difference between life and death," continued Cerny. "We trust Time Warner Telecom to provide our communications gateway since they understand reliability is paramount, and they have the infrastructure and mechanisms in place to insure we are never without a link to each other and the outside world." Under the new agreement, Time Warner Telecom is providing Community Hospitals with its industry-leading, metro Ethernet-based Switched Native LAN and a variety of private line and digital services. Time Warner Telecom's metro Ethernet Switched NLAN provides Community Health Network two 100 Mbps connections -- one to a professional medical building and the other to Community East Hospital -- enabling them to transport patient image files administered by its picture archiving communications system (PACS). Time Warner Telecom has provided a robust infrastructure into four of Community Health Network's hospitals, enabling the delivery of Time Warner Telecom's ISDN PRI and Ethernet Internet Service (EIS). Currently, Time Warner Telecom supplies voice and data lines for Community Health Network via an OC-12 handoff at Community Health Network's co-location facility allowing Community Health Network to provision those services as needed to any of their locations over their private DWDM network. In January, Time Warner Telecom will be providing an additional 20 Mbps Ethernet Internet connection into this same co-location facility. This increased bandwidth combined with Community's state-of-the-art Cisco AVVID infrastructure has resulted in VoIP connectivity in each doctor's office and improved information flow overall. "All types of businesses -- including those in the healthcare industry -- are searching for a voice and data solution that is much more than a dial tone and a fat pipe," said Barbara Hansen, General Manager for Time Warner Telecom in Indianapolis. "They are looking for a carrier that offers the highest levels of performance, a robust network and flexibility all at a lower cost. This is what Time Warner Telecom provides to businesses in the Midwest."
