ViaSat Receives National Security Agency (NSA) Certification for AltaSec(R) KG-255 IP Network Encryptor15 March 2006
ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq: VSAT) has received certification from the National Security Agency (NSA) for its AltaSec(R) KG-255 IP Network Encryptor. The KG-255 features compliance with the new interoperability specification for military information security products that is expected to make the encryptor an essential component for the Department of Defense Global Information Grid (GIG). By incorporating advanced networking features, the KG-255 brings easy-to-use, full mesh networking up to TOP SECRET/SCI level at full-duplex speeds of 1 Gigabit per second (2 Gigabits per second aggregate) over unsecured Wide Area Networks using the Internet Protocol (IP).

The National Security Agency certified the KG-255 under a program known as "GigEE", an acronym for High Assurance Gigabit Ethernet Encryptor. The product embodies a high performance implementation of the ViaSat-developed architecture known as the Programmable, Scalable Information Assurance Model (PSIAM). The PSIAM is an information security technology foundation intended to meet the challenges of NSA Crypto Modernization, and other transformation initiatives, by virtue of its programmable operation and high-speed networking. The KG-255 is the third in the AltaSec family of security products that features full compliance with the High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor Interoperability Specification (HAIPE IS).
