World's First International Students-Only Mobile Phone Festival13 April 2006
Mobile Jam Fest (MJF) is the world's first international mobile phone festival that celebrates the creative potential of today's youth. Film, music, connectivity, interactivity, awareness and education; Mobile Jam Fest sets a new standard in youth based entertainment. Millions of university, college, and high school students in Canada, United States, and the United Kingdom are invited to produce and submit 2-minute films to mobilejamfest.com. Culture Creatives and Company (ccandco.com) in association with Jambo Mobile will be allowing, for the first time ever, the audience to be able to view, vote and interact with the festival films on their mobile phones, on-line, and at the National Film Board Mediatheque theatre in Toronto. MJF is open to both high school students over the age of 16 and to students enrolled in University or College. All students will compete for a grand prize of four years' tuition to any university or college in the world. The Event Mobile Jam Fest with the support of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) Mediatheque will be held November 2,3,4 2006 in Toronto, Canada and virtually around the world through the internet, as well as the NFB Mediatheque theatre in Toronto. Over the three days individuals will be able to view and vote for their favourite films through their mobile phones and over the Internet. Individuals located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will be able to view the films at the live event centre. Through both the internet and their mobile phones and also award their efforts by both teaching the craft of filmmaking and supporting their education." Live and Online Symposiums During the day, festival organizer ccandco, will invite industry experts in story telling, music video production, guerrilla filmmaking and many other topics to lead symposiums. These symposiums will also be broadcast live via the internet and will be open to all students. All symposiums will be available to download to all mobile devices including mobile phones, video ipods, PSP and many more. Each Festival night there will be parties for participants and viewers to meet, and, celebrate and share their views. Culminating in one large student Saturday night party, where international recording stars will perform live for the students. High School Competition Ccandco and supporters will be running a separate only-for-high school competition where students will compete for tuition and prizes. Rules, regulations and categories will be different then the University and college competition. Research Culture Creatives and Company in association with UK's Phat Gnat will be conducting the first international creative class study. We will be studying the youth's and creative classes attitudes towards sustainability, the environment, investment, and many other topics affecting them today.
